Peter has a deep understanding and a vast knowledge of this northwest corner of Victoria.
Peter grew up on a local Mallee farm, proving a foundation for his passion and knowledge of the area. Early years involved exploring this diverse landscape, shearing sheep, countless hours driving tractors and mustering stock on horseback between the Sunset Country through to the Murray River, So many stories!
Peter's experience spans more than 30 years of working on major projects with Landcare, forest management, emergency services (fire and flood) and the development of techniques to create flooding in modified landscapes and salinity control. Peter has worked with the Murray Darling Basin Authority, Victorian, South Australian and New South Wales governments. His work with the indigenous and broader communities has involved implementing some major advances in managing public and private landscapes in the Mallee to preserve our heritage, both indigenous and non-indigenous.
Jeanie came to Mildura over 35 years ago as a new young teacher and never left!
Peter and Jeanie have been married over 30 years and have spent many many holidays camping with their family in this region and all around Australia. Jeanie provides delicious home cooked food on all trips and tries to keep Peter on track!
